See, Everything Has Become New!
This meditation is based on a passage for December 31, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:16-6:2
Reflection and Question: The theme of reconciliation here sustains my long participation in the Community of Reconciliation, an intentionally welcoming congregation. I learned in this serious faith community what it takes to see everything as becoming new. There is no exception to “everything” so I receive my lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) friends in Christ as made new because they, like everyone in Christ, have been reconciled to God through Christ. When LGBT Christians testify that they know themselves, as they are, to be reconciled to God, I accept this. In what way is your life a ministry of reconciliation?
Prayer: Elusive Holy Spirit, remake our eyes day by day so that we regard no one from a human point of view. Make us true ambassadors of Christ, entrusted with the message of reconciliation. For all we meet, may today be the day of salvation! Amen.
